Privacy Policy
Your data, simply.
Last updated: 15 May 2026
The Other Side is a trading name of Buy Side Recruitment Limited. We produce CV Intelligence Reports: a 24-hour digital advisory service. To do that work we need to handle some of your personal information. This page explains exactly what we collect, why we collect it, and what your rights are.
Who is responsible for your data
The data controller is Buy Side Recruitment Limited (company number 09305423, VAT number GB221247644), registered at 75 Chessfield Park, Amersham, Buckinghamshire, HP6 6RX, United Kingdom. We are registered with the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) where required by law.
What we collect
When you order a report, we collect:
- Your name and email address.
- The CV file you upload or paste.
- Optional context you give us about your current role, your target role, and what you want the report to focus on.
- Payment details, processed entirely by Stripe. We do not see or store your card data.
- Any messages you send us.
When you visit the website, our hosting provider (Netlify) automatically receives standard request data: IP address, browser type, page visited. This is for security and basic usage statistics, not advertising.
Why we collect it
We use this information to:
- Produce the CV Intelligence Report you ordered. (Legal basis: performance of our contract with you.)
- Communicate with you about your order. (Contract performance.)
- Take payment via Stripe. (Contract performance.)
- Send the report and any follow-up correspondence you have asked for. (Contract performance.)
- Comply with our legal obligations including UK tax record-keeping. (Legal obligation.)
- Improve the service. (Legitimate interest, balanced against your privacy.)
We do not use your data for marketing without your consent. We do not sell your data.
Who we share it with
We use the following third-party services to deliver our work:
- Stripe (payment processing). Receives your name, email, and payment information at checkout.
- Resend(transactional email delivery, EU-based). Transmits the order email containing your name, email address, and CV file from the website to Michael’s business email inbox.
- Anthropic (Claude)(AI drafting tool, US-based). Receives your CV content and intake context when Michael uses Claude to draft elements of the report. See “How we use AI” below for full detail.
- Netlify (web hosting). Serves the website and processes form submissions.
- Google Fonts. Loads webfonts on the site. No personal data is sent.
Your CV file and order details are stored only in Michael’s business email account, where the order email is received. There is no separate database; we do not retain a working copy of your CV anywhere else.
Where any of these involve transferring your data outside the UK, we rely on the recipient’s adequacy decisions or standard contractual clauses approved by the UK government. Anthropic publishes UK and EU SCCs which we rely on for data transfers to the United States.
How we use AI
The CV Intelligence Report is produced manually by Michael Muir, with Anthropic’s Claude used as a drafting tool. This section explains exactly what that means.
What AI does in our process:
- Reads your CV and the intake context you provided, and helps draft analysis, rewrites, and the two CV documents.
- Acts as a fast first-draft layer that Michael then reviews, edits, and signs off before delivery.
What AI does not do in our process:
- Make hiring decisions about you or score your CV in any automated way that affects an outcome.
- Send your data to recruiters, employers, or third parties.
- Ship the report to you without Michael’s review and sign-off.
Anthropic’s data handling:
- Per Anthropic’s published policy, the content we send to Claude is not used to train Anthropic’s models on our paid plan.
- Anthropic retains conversation data for a limited operational period (typically 30 days for trust and safety review, shorter where deletion is requested) and then deletes it.
- Anthropic is US-based; we rely on Anthropic’s UK/EU Standard Contractual Clauses for the cross-border data transfer.
If you do not want your CV processed by AI:
- Our standard service uses AI as a drafting tool. If you do not consent to AI processing, please do not place an order; email Michael directly at michael.muir@buysiderec.com to discuss alternative arrangements.
- You can ask us at any time to delete the Claude conversation containing your CV from our account; we will action this within 5 working days and confirm.
Where any of these involve transferring your data outside the UK, we rely on the recipient’s adequacy decisions or standard contractual clauses approved by the UK government.
We do not share your data with recruiters, employers, or any other third party for the purpose of presenting you for jobs. Your CV stays with us for the report and is not introduced to any role or company.
How long we keep it
- Your CV file and order email: held in Michael’s business inbox until you ask us to delete them, or six years from your last interaction (whichever is sooner). UK accounting rules require us to keep transaction records for six years.
- Your email correspondence with us: two years from the last reply.
- Aggregated, anonymised analytics: indefinitely.
You can ask for deletion at any time (see Your rights below).
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to:
- Ask for a copy of the personal data we hold about you (right of access).
- Ask us to correct any data that is wrong (right of rectification).
- Ask us to delete your data, subject to our legal retention obligations (right of erasure).
- Ask us to limit how we use your data while a query is being resolved (right of restriction).
- Ask for your data in a portable machine-readable format (right of portability).
- Object to our processing of your data on the basis of legitimate interest (right to object).
To exercise any of these rights, email michael.muir@buysiderec.com. We will respond within 30 days.
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data, you also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk or 0303 123 1113.
Cookies
We do not use tracking or advertising cookies. The site uses essential cookies only (for example, to remember a form submission during your session). No third-party advertising or analytics cookies are set.
Children
Our service is for adults seeking career advisory support. We do not knowingly market to or accept orders from anyone under 18.
Changes to this policy
If we materially change how we handle your data we will update this page and note the new date at the top. For changes that affect existing customers we will email you directly.
